Steve's Fish and Chips

Considering the reviews, I was quite disappointed with the quality and portion sizes of the fish and chips. I guess I’m used to other fish and chip establishments giving decent portion sizes but barely felt satisfied. Chips were hard, some dry, barely seasoned and quite a small portion size. Fish was okay being moist and not too oily. Paid for tartare sauce that I didn’t get. Guess that was partially my doing since I assumed it was wrapped together with the good. The server was very friendly though, but shame on food quality.

Amazing. My friend Jess has been telling me how good this place is for months and months, I finally had chance to go and it lived up to and exceeded all expectations. The chips were both crispy and soft and the same time and I just could not stop eating them even when I was so full from the fish burger. The fish burger was fish bits not a fish patty which is so much better, I’m quite fussy with fish and I really liked it, cooked so well. The potato scallops are practically famous, a must try. Staff were friendly and very helpful, amazing cooks. The price is the best especially for that quality of food.

The Food at Steve's was delicious! Coming back from a day at work we decided to drop into Steve's for some chips and potato scallops, for $16 we received a very large serving of chips, potato scallops and gravy, the food was well cooked and didn't taste soggy or oily, the store is very clean and tidy and you can tell the owner takes great pride in the store. We will definitely be back again!

Since new ownership the food is soggy and they are slow to get it packed so it’s sits there above the oil in the basket cooked I waited 10 min while my order was sitting above the oil in the basket waiting for them to wrap it up ! It was cold and soggy by the time I got home I didn’t eat it ! Was so good before! Gotta move faster when u serve food hence the name FAST FOOD for a reason ! Won’t be going back ! Such a shame Hopefully you read your reviews so you can make adjustments and pick up the pace .

There is so much wrong with this place following the new ownership; normally I wouldn’t bother with reviews but today’s experience was next level (and not in a good way!). The battered fish was so soggy the batter was like soup! Paid $3 for bacon on a steak sandwich to receive HALF a rasher. What steak sandwich from a F&C store doesn’t have cheese!! Ordered two pieces of snapper; see above comment re the battered piece. Surprisingly, despite both pieces being the same fish, the crumbed was less than half the size! All this said, they appear to be the same workers both recent times, so be interesting to know what’s going on! I separated today’s experience specifically because the last experience was no better! Pick up your game, truly. Steve needs to very much re-consider keeping his name associated with this place.
